Oven-mitt: Friend or Foe

Once upon a time the oven-mitt was Ivy's worst enemy so Mommy and Daddy used that to their full advantage. The oven-mitt found it's home on the bottom of a bookshelf. It served it's purpose of keeping Ivy away from grown up books, games, and mostly to prevent any climbing babies! Just to keep the fear alive we would occasionally play a game called "chase Ivy with the mitt." (Sounds so mean, but was really entertaining!!) She would run away and give the oven-mitt the Ivy glare. Well, one too many games later....

Ivy over came her fear. Here she is checking out the oven-mitt. And mommy and daddy are so sad that their scare tactics can no longer put the incredible Ivy in fear mode.

Mommy and Daddy are currently looking for a new enemy to keep Ivy away from the bookshelf. So far NOTHING scares baby Ivy! Truthfully, Greg and I worry that she is fearless as she slams the door in the pitch black bathroom with herself shut inside. We wait for her to cry and scream for us to save her and instead we a hear a little voice say "boo"!

For now, we have a brave little girl who fears nothing. If you have any ideas for a bookshelf enemy offer them here!!! We need to keep our paper shredding, box opening, game piece eating, book shelf climbing baby away! :)

Special Video: Unc & Esie

Okay... I know I have been crazy blogging today!!!! :) But seriously how could I not go ahead and post what I just caught on camera.

Dear Unc and Esie,

My mommy was able to capture me at my finest.... deeply missing the greatest unc and aunt a girl could long for!! I hope that this video is able to hold you over for the next week and a half. Can't wait to see you all. One last thing.... Esie, be ready- we are having a photoshoot!! We are in need of some pics together. See you soon.

Love You, Ivy

Ring Around the Rosie

Ivy has a new favorite game!! Greg and I have been ringing around the rosie so much that we are permanently dizzy. Ivy signals to us when she wants to play by standing right next to us and twirling in circles until we grab her hands and start singing. I wanted to get her solo on video but I was afraid she might fall... so when all else fails- for the thousandth time yesterday I spun around in circles for the camera! What you do for your children!! :)

Dear Unc and Esie (this is what she called you!!),

I can't wait to play this with you! The count down has started and my mom tells me that I will see you in just 10 days!!! I love you and get ready to spin, spin, spin! :)

Road Trip

To all those that know me and my driving abilities you will be shocked~ Ivy and I drove to Louisville by ourselves. We got there and back safely... no wrong turns, no tickets, no major or even minor mishaps! I felt very thankful. Yesterday we decided to take a road trip to visit my grandparents. They hadn't seen Ivy since her birthday and were anxious to get to spend some time with her (and me of course!). She was very shy at first but after a while warmed up to them. Grandma dug some toys out of the basement that my cousins and I played with as children. She had so much fun. This is another perk to working part time... mini mid-week excursions to visit people we love! We will definitely be doing this again :)

Ivy enjoyed playing with the fake fruit... she was wishing those were real grapes. Grapes are her new favorite food!

We played outside after lunch until Ivy was totally exhausted. Grandma and Grandpa said they were tired just watching me chase her all over the place! Good thing I am having babies young!

I finally got Ivy to pose for a picture with her Great Grandparents!

Dear Grandma & Grandpa,

I had a great time visiting with you all yesterday! Moby Dick was very yummy at lunch time. All of your toys and your big yard kept me very entertained :) We will definitely plan another road trip soon. I hope that someone with a computer can show you the good picture of us. I love you!

Love, Ivy

Like He -OR- Like Me

Baby Sarah at 13 Months

Baby Ivy at 13 Months

Baby Greg at 13 Months

For those of you that know Ivy, she came straight out of womb and within minutes I looked at Greg with watery eyes and a smile stretched across my face and said "She looks just like you!" There was no doubt in my mind or anyone else's. Ivy has Greg's eyes, brow line, and facial expressions. There has never been a day that I haven't looked at her and seen a Little Greg :) Does this bother me? Of course not! I love that our little Princess looks just like her Daddy.

However, lately, so many people have been saying that Ivy is starting to resemble me. I don't know if it is her hair or the fact that she is looking more like a little girl. Regardless of the reason, I decided to investigate. So I ask you, fellow bloggers, like he or like me?

I would say your response is as quick at mine..... just like he!!! :)

*The hair
(Thank goodness... it gives her hope for the future... Greg's curls surfaced at age 13.)
*The teeth
*The eyes
(Including the eye brows- just like them!)
*The coloring
*The neck
(Obviously this isn't in the picture but if you have ever compared the back of Ivy's neck with Greg's they are identical!)

All in all we looked at several pictures of us growing up. It seems that the only thing that Ivy may not have adopted from Daddy is her mouth. Her mouth shape is very similar to mine... YAY- one mommy quality! I knew I was some how part of the equation. :) And Greg says the nose isn't either just yet. She is too little to tell! I thought you would enjoy the pictures and the undeniable resemblance. Please share... what do you think?

Our Cinci Trip

Yesterday we (my parents included) packed up the car full of baby amenities and made the short drive to Cincinnati. We were so anxious to see Anthony and Chelsea. I think this was the longest stretch it has been of not seeing them... almost 6 weeks! I kept talking about Unc and Aunt Chels to Ivy and pointing them out in pictures. She would smile and keep going back to their faces so I thought for sure she would remember them instantly. When does this age come? Because she was very shy when we first got there. This is a side of Ivy that I NEVER see. She waves to everyone everywhere. But when we walked into their house she hid behind Greg and I. After a little bit she warmed up to them and was ready to play. We went out to lunch at a yummy- not so baby friendly- restaurant and then had United Dairy Farmer's ice cream. Yum! Ivy took a long nap while we caught up on each other's lives. It was so good to see Anthony and Chelsea. We miss them so much but thankfully they will be in Lexington at the beginning of October- hooray! Here a some pictures to capture our time with them.

Unc was trying to lure Ivy his direction with all of her favorite things :) I am so ready for her to see him and squeal and cover him with kisses! Enough of this shy business!

Unc's gimmicks worked~ He was able to spend some quality time over looking the city with her. So sweet :) He will make a good daddy someday!

Please pretend that Chelsea is in this picture. :( She is standing right there and once again I didn't get a picture of her and Ivy. I think it is because they have so many sweet moments I don't even think about capturing them all on film. However, in a few weeks we are going to do an Ivy and Aunt Chels photo shoot. ** PS~ Chelsea, Ivy immediately found you in her photo album today and grinned from ear to ear!! She loves you muchas!

Now~ I am sure you are asking what is that mini washer looking thing? Well, it is some super cool modern European style washer/dryer that Unc and Chels have, and it most definitely won Ivy's heart. It was just her size and she could push the buttons and everything lit up and made noise. Ivy was in love.... it had all the perks of a cell phone but 1 million times the size! :)

Pops and Ivy stopped to pose for a picture :) They were in the middle of a belly kissing session.... their absolute favorite game!!! These days Ivy pulls up her shirt to show Pop's her tummy so he can blow bubbles on it!

Attention Unc & Aunt Chels

This is a special post for Anthony & Chelsea. We decided we would try to get Ivy to talk to you all on video. The talking failed but since Ivy and I have ESP I told you what she was holding back! haha :) Seriously, we love you all so much and can't wait to see you this weekend. Anthony, I know you are super worried that you are "missing" out but Ivy looks at you and Chelsea in pictures and she recognizes your faces. As she gets older she will be able to talk to you on the phone and send you blog videos that aren't so amateur. We promise we think you all are the best Unc and Aunt a girl could ask for!! Love you and see you in 114ish hours :) I know you enjoy the count down!

Adventures at the Mall

I have been wanting to take Ivy to play at the indoor playground for a while but hadn't gotten around to it until this weekend. Greg and I had to go get a few things and she was not into shopping. We decided it would be a great time to stop for a mini play break. Now that she is walking confidently I wasn't as scared (there are some BIG kids there)!!! Ivy loved it and she immediately made a friend. The other little girl showed her how to crawl through the tunnel and wanted to show her how to climb the duck, Ivy is still too small~ thankfully. Here are some pictures capturing her fun at the mall!

Happy Labor Day!

It is the happiest Labor Day ever..... because Ivy has a pony tail!!! YAY!! :) I had to snap a picture even though she was in the middle of a cheerio bite! And the best part, she left it in all day long. The mini pony just might be a new signature look for us!

Nana (which Ivy is finally saying-in her own Ivy way) came to pick us up for an early morning shopping trip. We went to Hamburg to an Ann Taylor Loft sale. It was great since I got a few new things (Thanks, Mom)! I had to snap a picture of Ivy and Nana to capture our new pony tail. :)

Today Ivy and I got to visit with one of my dearest friends, Lindsey. Lindsey and I have known each other since 6th grade but have not gotten to see each other any in the last year. HOW SAD!!! She couldn't believe how much Ivy had grown. They got to play together and Lindsey is instantly a new friend since she was willing to share both her keys and phone! We were wishing our great friend luck and love as she moves 1/2 way across the country to Denver, CO. We will miss you, Lindsey, but can't wait to visit your new home!
